Future Business Leaders of America Submitted: 02/05/2011
MINOCQUA - The future of America is in the hands of the young, and a large group of them spent the day at Lakeland Union High School in Minocqua.

The school hosted a regional Future Business Leaders of America competition for the first time today.

And more than 800 students took part from 26 schools.

They competed in several categories like public speaking, business presentation and web design.

The top three places from each group advance to the state meet this April in Appleton.

State qualifier and Vice President of Region 2, Brieanna Schroeder, says the event really prepares students for future careers, "It just shows you how many good people there are in your school that are going to make it in the business world. A lot of these events will capture what you want to do when you're older, which is really unique."

An incentive that could push students to do well at the state meet is the national meet.

That will be in Orlando, Florida, later this year.
